Who Stands Out for Week 3?

NFL betting

Finding the right backup running back can pay off big when you’re using NFL betting promos to wager on who will score the game’s first touchdown each week.

All season long, USBettingReport.com will be tracking every first touchdown to see which player would net the most money on a weekly $100 bet. We’ll be tracking $100 bet calculations for every game a player is active.

And after two weeks of the 2023 NFL season, no player or defensive/special teams unit has scored his team’s first touchdown twice. Week 2 also saw plenty of legal online sportsbooks long shots hit the end zone.

Reserve Rushers Pay Off Big in NFL Betting

With NFL betting odds at mobile sports betting apps of +3600 and +3200, backup running backs Jaleel McLaughlin of the Broncos and Tony Jones Jr. would have produced paydays of $3,500 and $3,100 for anyone who bet $100 for them to score the first touchdown of the game over the first two weeks.

McLaughlin’s score was truly a shock, as it was one of just three plays he had in Denver’s 35-33 loss to Washington and one of just eight plays the rookie from Youngstown State has so far this year.

Jones actually would have been a smart last-minute bet. The Saints pulled up the fifth-year pro from the practice squad because they didn’t have anyone to back up Jamaal Williams, who was injured late in the first half of the 20-17 win over Carolina on Monday.

Pittsburgh’s defense looked good again and it was the other who could have paid $3,000 with Alex Highsmith’s pick-6 interception of Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and then T.J. Watt sealed a 26-22 win with a fumble recovery for a score.

Aside from those big three, finding the right red-zone tight ends (Dallas’ Jake Ferguson and Detroit’s T.J. Hockenson) were good bets in Week 2, as were receivers from the Chiefs (Skyy Moore) and Packers (Jayden Reed).

So, what are the odds that Week 3 finds 16 new first-time touchdown scorers?
