What Seed Will UConn Basketball Be In NCAA Tournament?

UConn basketball

Few NCAA college basketball teams have thrived over the last two years quite like the Connecticut Huskies have under head coach Dan Hurley. UConn basketball captured the school’s fifth men’s national title this spring and are excelling on the court this season as well. But what is their legal online sports betting outlook?

Overall, the Huskies sit at 11-2 heading into January, with wins over No. 16 Texas (81-71), No. 9 UNC (87-76), No. 10 Gonzaga (76-63) and their most recent conquest on Dec. 23 over St. John’s, whom the Huskies beat at XL Center, 69-65.

That mastery allows the Huskies to hold the fourth-best NCAA title odds on ESPN BET Sportsbook, at +1200, with UConn sitting behind the Arizona Wildcats (+900), Purdue Boilermakers (+900) and Kansas Jayhawks (+1000) nationally.

U.S. Betting Report broke down the odds on where Hurley’s squad could wind up, seeding wise, in this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. We are getting a sense of where the Huskies stack up nationally, ahead of their first contest of the new year against DePaul at home on Jan. 2.

Their odds to make the NCAA Tournament are overwhelming: Yes: -99900 (99.9%); No: +99000 (.01%).

Where Will UConn Basketball Wind Up Seeded In 2024?

Given UConn’s impressive non-conference resume and the Huskies’ current No. 5 spot on KenPom.com, it’s not out of the question that UConn will secure its first No. 1 seed since 2009 when the field for March Madness is announced this spring. The tournament is an annual highlight for U.S. mobile sports betting operators.

That’s why we give the Huskies decent odds (+300) of being one of the four teams in the nation with a No. 1 regional seed in 2024. However, a No. 2 seed seems much more likely, given the meat grinder of a Big East schedule the school has in 2024 and the stacked playing field they’ll go up against come March Madness. We think a No. 2 seed is the most likely outcome, with a 40% implied probability, or +150 odds. We give UConn descending odds of getting a seed lower than a 2, with their odds of being a No. 3 seed (+600), No. 4 (+1400) or No. 5 (+3900) being much longer at the moment.

UConn is a +210 favorite to win the Big East at FanDuel Sportsbook but the conference is stacked.

Hurley’s team has one focus at the moment, which is on their Big East slate that includes games against DePaul, Butler, Xavier, Georgetown, Creighton, Villanova and Xavier in January alone. From there, Hurley and company can start dreaming of another March Madness run to remember, though the time for such longing is likely well off for the Huskies as yet.
