PointsBet Begins Transition to Fanatics Branding

Fanatics

The transition has started.

Fanatics Betting and Gaming announced late Thursday it has closed on the first eight states in its previously announced acquisition of PointsBet USA back on June 30.

Following state regulatory approvals, PointsBet Sportsbook will be rebranded to “PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience” over the next several months. The first eight states will be: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

At the start of NFL season next week, Fanatics Betting and Gaming will have a portfolio of brands live in 11 legal online sports betting states and PointsBet Casino will be live in four states. The Detroit Lions will visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Sept. 7 to open the 2023 NFL regular season.

Fanatics Moving Forward With Plans

“We are excited about what we are building at Fanatics Betting and Gaming and this acquisition accelerates our plans,” said Matt King, CEO of Fanatics Betting and Gaming in a news release. “We have a 10-year plan that focuses on the customer and not market share. We are going to acquire customers efficiently, allowing us to return savings to customers by investing in the customer experience at Fanatics Sportsbook and PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience.”

Fanatics Betting and Gaming will also add PointsBet’s online casino platform, which is currently available in four states (Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio and Tennessee).

PointsBet USA will continue to operate in states — Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, New York and Ohio — until Fanatics Betting and Gaming is able to close on each of those states individually.

PointsBet USA will continue to employ engineers, customer service teams, traders, marketing and compliance teams, and Johnny Aitken will continue as the CEO of PointsBet USA. This change comes at the high point of the betting calendar, when NFL betting promos help national operators overcome the lull of summer.
