Las Vegas Raiders Next Head Coach Odds

Raiders next head coach

The Las Vegas Raiders have been in Sin City for four seasons and are on their fourth head coach – surely customers at legal online sportsbooks will note that this is not exactly a model of stability. So who will the Raiders next head coach be?

The current one, Antonio Pierce is, at the moment, an interim head coach. That raises the question of whether owner Mark Davis will retain Pierce, who was the linebackers coach, or start with a clean slate by hiring somebody else.

Case For Antonio Pierce To Be Raiders Next Head Coach

The argument in favor of Pierce is that he took over after the team started the season 3-5 under John McDaniels and finished the season 5-4. That gave the Raiders an overall record of 8-9 in the AFC West after they started the season as +8000 longshots to win the Super Bowl at BetMGM Sportsbook. Highlights of Pierce’s tenure was that he won his first game as head coach, 30-6 over the New York Giants; defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 63-21 (the most points scored in Raiders franchise history), and won three of his last four games.

However, Pierce’s resume is a bit thin. He was a solid player with Washington and the New York Giants (2001-09). His only head coaching experience was at the high school level. Pierce did have significant coaching responsibilities at Arizona State from 2018 through 2021. He was named linebackers coach with the Raiders in 2022 before being on an interim head coaching basis this season.

USBettingReport.com, your home for information on legal sports betting apps, handicapped the possible candidates who might be the Raiders head coach in 2024 and made Pierce the leading possibility at hypothetical odds of +350, or a 22.2% chance. Here is the full list:

Other Las Vegas Raiders Coaching Candidates

You can’t get this information at NFL betting sites, only at USBettingReports.com, which prepared these odds exclusively.

After Pierce, the next two possible candidates as Raiders next head coach are Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Both are given hypothetical odds of +900, or chances of 10%.

Because of the Cowboys’ outstanding defense, Quinn is frequently mentioned as a head coach possibility. He has head coaching experience with Atlanta and took the Falcons to the Super Bowl in the 2016 season, where they lost to New England. Dallas (12-5), the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs, had the No. 5 defense for both points and yards allowed in 2023. The Cowboys have odds of +750 at ESPN BET Sportsbook to win the Super Bowl in February.

Flores, like Quinn, has head coaching experience. Flores was a longtime assistant during the glory days of the New England Patriots, then was head coach with the Miami Dolphins in the 2019-21 seasons, going 24-25. This past season, the Vikings were No. 13 in points allowed and No. 16 in yards allowed, but those were huge improvements over the three previous seasons.

After Quinn and Flores, there are two offensive coordinators that USBettingReprt.com considers candidates for the Raiders head coach job – Miami’s Frank Smith and Detroit’s Ben Johnson. Miami had an explosive offensive this season with high-profile skill position stars. Johnson had a potent offense with a solid but not spectacular cast of characters. USBettingReport.com gives hypothetical odds of +1000 (9.1% chance) to both Smith and Johnson. At FanDuel Sportsbook, the Dolphins have +1700 odds to win the Super Bowl; the Lions are at +2200.

One Intriguing College Coach On List

Other candidates that USBettingReport.com handicapped are L.A. Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. All are given hypothetical odds of +1200, or chances of 7.7%.

Harbaugh especially would be an interesting candidate for any NFL opening considering he took the San Francisco to a Super Bowl following the 2012 season, where he lost to his brother John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens. Jim Harbaugh, an outspoken personality, also took the Michigan Wolverines to the CFP National Championship game this season. Any other candidate is given hypothetical odds of +500, or a 16.7% chance.

At Caesars Sportsbook, the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl favorites before the playoffs begin with odds of +215. The AFC’s top seed, the Baltimore Ravens, are second favorite at +330.
